Pink Pig Flys Again

Manx born twin brothers Andy and Malcolm Kirk are contesting the Star Services Trophy Rally, which gets underway on Friday 29 July.

The 1.5day, 174 mile rally is the first in two years for the pairing in there Rallypac sponsored Group N Suzuki Swift GTi.

'It seems along time since driving a rally car competitively, I hope I can remember how to drive fast,' admitted Andy earlier this week. 'I have to admit it's a big shame I have not been able to compete in last couple of years but business commitments have kept me busy. I think it'll take a few stages to get back into the rhythm of things, but it will be fantastic to just have fun in the Pink Pig again. (The Pink Pig is the name given to the car because of the bright pink livery)
Andy and Malcolm Kirk will start at number 237 with 8 in there B9 class.

If you would like to help out Marshals are required to man the stages of the TOTAL Manx International Rally and its supporting Conister Trust Manx Historic Rally, Star Services Manx Trophy Rally and Manx Landrover Rally.

The event itself takes place next week, from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th July, and will once again bring the cream of British and Irish rallying talent to the island as it features as a high profile round of several major championships.

The rally requires a significant number of officials to run and both Ramsey and Castletown will host a signing-on session this week for anyone able to assist.

The first chance is at The Mitre in Ramsey from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, this coming Tuesday 19th July. The following evening, Wednesday 20th July, The George in Castletown is the venue, again from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

There will be additional sessions at the TT Grandstand on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings of the following week, or you can contact Chief Marshal John Gill on 452321.

Previous experience isn’t necessary and the organisers would be delighted to welcome new marshals to the event.

Marshals will receive free hospitality during the running of the event at the hospitality tent at the event base, the TT Grandstand in Douglas and additionally will receive free entry to a pre-event BBQ, sponsored by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, on the evening of Wednesday 27th July.

Andy and Malcolm would like to thank I.T Works and Outdoor Power and Plant for all the support they have had in preparing for this event.
